A charging unit is around 96% efficient. Squeezing the last point out of that figure is a real engineering achievement and makes almost no difference to anything.
What does make a difference is when the electricity is drawn. The carbon intensity of a typical European grid varies by a factor of five across a single day. Shifting a session by four hours can cut its emissions by more than half without changing a single component.
The second lever is the object itself. Roughly 60% of a charger's lifetime footprint is embodied in its manufacture, which means the greenest unit is the one still working in 2040.
So we build for service life and schedule for the grid. Both are unglamorous, and between them they account for nearly all of the impact a product like this can have.
